Ever since The Skratchlords started wandering the planet, tearing up people’s turntables and hacking their way through the toughest, most-awkward and hardcore beats, the potential for an album has slowly built in the backs of many people’s minds.
As the first Community Skratch Music event to ever hit the USA kicks off in January 2019, the first Skratchlords album is finally ready to be unleashed.
Captured over a whole year, in-between recording sessions, at post-gig parties, and during chance encounters between the wider collective, the album is both a record of what the Skratchlords have focused on musically over the past months, as well as a glimpse into the freestyle energy they ride through their live performances.
The unifying idea behind the Lords is to challenge themselves and their audience to shed the comforts of the prescribed culture surrounding skratching, and to understand the raw ingredients of this musical alchemy in order to reconstruct them unpredictably.
Skratchlords live shows have a consistent theme of un-planned mayhem, falling together into an instantly recognisable atmosphere. Loud, aggressive, fearless and indestructible, the mental state is reflected in the album’s title: BERSERKER
Jimmy Penguin:
"Recording berserker was a fantastic experience and I had a tremendous time !
I look forward to flushing it down the pipe !"
Djackulate:
"While holding in a massive poo, enduced by coming up on a big pill, I clutched my buttocks closed tight and just went for it. 1 take, no breaks, by the time I was done I was feeling stupendous"
Symatic:
“I’ve never been so delighted in my life. The whole experience was like a pleasant anurism."
Manipulate:
“ I was out of my skull, can’t remember a fucking thing”

11 out of 10. Shame on me for not hearing this sooner. "Noises..." is a masterpiece standing chin-out & chest-up w/ the best work by Shadow, Koala, R. Swift & Qbert. Crushing beats, turntable wizardry, genius samples? Triple-check. I'm left wanting more Otis Nugatory
This song is amazing. So is the whole album. I'm very motivated to get better now. So excited you released the instrumentals. Picking those up soon.
